About

Helping You to Care grew out of a lifetime of caring – both professionally and personally.

After more than four decades in nursing, I wanted to create a space where experience could be shared more quietly – offering reflection, reassurance, and practical support for those caring for others and themselves.

A lifetime of caring

I have spent over 40 years working in nursing, supporting people through some of the most challenging and meaningful moments of their lives.

Over time, I came to understand that caring is not only about knowledge or skill – but about presence, judgement, and compassion.

This space brings together those lessons, shaped by real experience rather than theory alone.

Why this space exists

Caring can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be demanding, confusing, and at times overwhelming.

I created Helping You to Care as a place to step back, reflect, and find clarity – whether you are supporting others, navigating your own well-being, or working within a caring profession.

My hope is that what you find here helps you feel more confident, more grounded, and less alone.

A little more about me

Outside of nursing, I value time spent walking, reflecting, and being in nature – spaces that offer perspective and quiet.

These moments have shaped not only how I live, but how I care – with a focus on steadiness, simplicity, and what truly matters.

A complementary project

Alongside Helping You To Care, I created a companion space called Practical Home Support.

It grew form the practical side of my nursing work – supporting people to make their homes safer, more manageable, and better suited to how life is now.

If you’re looking for practical ideas for the home, you’re very welcome to explore it here:
